DEATH
By: Douglas Alan Dodd
The night is cool,
I can feel it in the air,
Death has come to the neighborhood.
I can't see Him.
He's around a corner,
Maybe over there?
What can I do?
I can't stop Him.
I can't stop His will.
I can't stop time.
When will that toll chime?
Will I be there?
Will I watch Death,
Carry my loved one off?
Does Death have to be,
Horror and Pain?
Will there be Peace?
A release from holding my breath,
And to wipe the sweat from my brow.
Now the real question is,
That we think Death is untimely,
But to Death,
Is He Always On Time?
